MY STORY - Dr. TIM LINKLATEr
My introduction to Chiropractic began at home.
Growing up, I watched my mum experience incredible results from Chiropractic care during pregnancy and while managing a jaw condition. Seeing those changes firsthand left a lasting impression on me. As I got older and became more involved in sport, I started visiting the chiropractor myself for various injuries and niggles. What started as a patient experience quickly became a career path.
During Year 12, I completed work experience at my local chiropractic practice. I still remember the energy of that clinic. It was positive, uplifting, inspiring, and filled with people genuinely passionate about helping others improve their lives. I loved every minute of it and never looked back.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve now been practising as a Chiropractor for over 14 years. Chiropractic has also become something of a family tradition, with my brother and sister-in-law both becoming chiropractors as well.
Why I Practice Differently
At Genius Chiropractic, my focus isn’t simply on helping people feel better for a few days or weeks. My goal is to identify and address the underlying structural problems that may be contributing to ongoing symptoms.
That’s why I focus on Neuro-Structural Correction.
Many forms of healthcare, including traditional chiropractic approaches, often focus on symptom relief. This can be incredibly valuable, and many practitioners do an excellent job helping people reduce pain, improve mobility, and manage flare-ups.
However, Neuro-Structural Correction takes a different approach.
I often compare the spine to the foundation of a house. If the foundation shifts, cracks begin to appear throughout the structure. You can continue repairing those cracks, but unless the foundation is addressed, the problems are likely to keep returning.
In the same way, structural shifts within the spine can place stress on discs, joints, muscles, and the nervous system. These underlying shifts often contribute to the symptoms people experience, whether that’s pain, headaches, restricted movement, poor recovery, or a range of other secondary conditions.
Using detailed assessments and pre- and post-structural shift testing, I focus on identifying these underlying issues and helping restore more normal spinal structure and neurological function.
This approach isn’t for everyone. Some people are simply looking for short-term symptom relief, and that’s completely okay. There are many fantastic healthcare providers who specialise in that type of care.
But for people seeking long-term solutions, improved function, and a proactive approach to their health, Neuro-Structural Correction often offers a different path forward.
What Inspires Me
The most rewarding part of my job is seeing people get their lives back.
Every day I meet people whose health challenges have limited what they can do, sometimes for years. They may have stopped exercising, struggled to keep up with their children or grandchildren, lost confidence in their bodies, or simply accepted that feeling unwell is part of getting older.
Watching those same people begin to move better, sleep better, exercise again, have more energy, experience fewer headaches, and get back to doing the things they love is incredibly rewarding.
My vision has always been bigger than helping people get out of pain. I want to help create a healthier, stronger community of people who can fully participate in their lives and reach their potential.
Outside the Practice
When I’m not in practice, you’ll usually find me spending time with my beautiful family or swimming laps at Merewether Baths. Rain, hail, or shine, it’s one of my favourite places to reset, recharge, and enjoy everything that makes living in Newcastle so special.
